Best practices
Some of the best practices to be followed to secure browsers:
Download and Install the browsers from Authentic and Reliable sources rather third party websites. It is always advised to download the browser executables either from proprietary or authentic source for installation.
Disable Autofill login button to avoid saving of Username and Passwords for any Website (Online Banking/Shopping) accessed. Everyone should be cautious while performing any Financial transactions or shopping online because the browsers always ask for saving the credentials like Credit/Debit card details for quick transactions which may be stolen or misused by miscreants to perform any financial transactions.
Enable HTTPS only mode in the browser settings for Secure website access only.
This is additional layer of security while which needs to be enabled while accessing the sensitive information over any browser. If this service is enabled, those websites with secured layer will only be opened (most of the Banking portals have this facility)
Block all Pop-Up windows or do not click on those Pop-ups.
While accessing various websites there are chances of getting malicious programs in the form of Pop Ups and in a hurry we tend to click them without even noticing them which may compromise the browser security and thus possibly steal our sensitive information.
Clear browsing history every time when you log off the computer.
Make it as a regular practice to clear all the cookies and browsing history whenever you log off the computer or atleast when you leave the organization. Special care to be taken while using any browser on public computers particularly in the internet cafe
