Disadvantages of NFC and Wi-Fi enabled cards
NFC-enabled cards:
- Limited range: NFC-enabled cards have a limited range of about 4 inches, so they must be held close to the payment terminal in order to work. This can be inconvenient in some situations.
- Limited availability: While NFC-enabled cards are becoming more common, not all merchants support this payment option.
- Security concerns: Although NFC-enabled cards are generally considered secure, there is always a risk of hacking or other security breaches.
Wi-Fi enabled cards:
- Security concerns: Like any wireless technology, Wi-Fi enabled cards are vulnerable to hacking and other security threats.
- Battery life: Wi-Fi enabled cards require power to function, so they may need to be recharged or replaced periodically.
- Compatibility: Wi-Fi enabled cards may not be compatible with all payment terminals or devices, which can limit their usefulness in some situations.
